About the 2nd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championships, filled with awe and excitement for this grand sporting event. Not only did it showcase the exquisite skills of Asia’s top athletes, but it also deepened international cultural exchanges and understanding.

The gathering of representatives from 18 countries and regions across Asia in Phnom Penh for this competition is truly remarkable. Over the course of three days, 94 athletes competed fiercely across 19 weight classes, demonstrating exceptional skills and unwavering determination in both modern and traditional mixed martial arts categories. Their battles were not just for personal and team honors but also for coveted qualification spots at the upcoming Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in November.

The presence and support of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the opening ceremony underscored the crucial role of sports in fostering international friendship and cultural exchange. His speech not only highlighted the Cambodian government’s dedication to sports development but also showcased Cambodia’s proactive role in promoting MMA and cultural exchanges as the host nation. The traditional Cambodian martial arts performance during the opening ceremony was a standout, offering a glimpse into the host country’s rich sporting cultural heritage and providing a visual and spiritual feast for the global audience.

At the closing ceremony, Gordon Tang, President of AMMA, and Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, commended the outstanding performances of all athletes and expressed gratitude to all participants. Mr. Tang reiterated AMMA’s commitment to promoting and developing MMA in Cambodia and across Asia with the aim of bridging cultural gaps and fostering regional understanding and respect through the sport. He also expressed enthusiasm for enhanced international cooperation and exchange in the future.

The 2nd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championships were not only a showcase of competitive skills but also a celebration of cross-cultural unity. Through the unifying power of sports, it brought together people and cultures from diverse backgrounds, embodying the true spirit of international friendship. I am eagerly anticipating the continued growth and success of this vibrant sport across Asia and beyond.
