The Mixed Martial Arts Sports Association of Hong Kong, China established the MMA referee training course to cultivate a local referee team with international standards, comprehensively enhancing the fairness and safety of Hong Kong MMA events.
This training course emphasizes both theory and practice, covering three core areas: explanation of international MMA rules, standards for judging fouls, and practical scenario judgment training. Through case studies and simulated officiating, students will learn the decision-making skills required for accurately judging key moments such as knockouts, submissions, and fight stoppages.
For each session, the Association invites experienced referees with domestic and international event experience to serve as instructors, sharing practical judging examples and techniques. Outstanding students can not only obtain internationally recognized referee certification but also have the opportunity to be recommended to officiate regional events, including international platforms like the Asian Amateur MMA Championships.
This program also establishes a continuous training mechanism, with regular refresher courses to ensure referees’ knowledge stays current. In the long term, the Association aims to enhance the credibility of Hong Kong MMA competitions through rigorous training, attracting more athletes and spectators, and improving the local MMA sports ecosystem.
